Legal First was incorporated in 2012 and has been developed over several years to service the needs of the Australasian legal market in the upper small to mid-tier marketplace.

The directors of Legal First have a long history of developing software for lawyers and we were a major part of the success of the previous CLO system. Many mid-tier and larger firms deployed CLO in the 1990s and early 2000s. CLO was acquired by Aderant in 2002.

We decided early on with Legal First that we needed to focus on browser-based functionality that can work just as easily on premise, on a firm’s intranet or via the internet to become a true Cloud solution. We now offer both solutions to the market and we also make it very easy to move to the Cloud whenever a firm is ready for that transition. Two of our largest on-premise sites have recently moved to the Cloud, a task that we were able to perform overnight.

Legal First is well funded and ready for the future. We installed our first sites in July 2015 and we now have several clients. We best fit growing firms with at least 10 users and we confidently can scale to firms with hundreds of users.

Legal First is not an “off the shelf” solution where each firm gets what the supplier thinks you need. We have an easily customisable system, we listen to each client’s needs and bespoke the solution as required.
